Painless Laser Hair Removal!
|
Dr. Stoller uses the Aesthera Laser in his Chadds Ford office. This laser utilizes NEW PPx Therapy, a breakthrough aesthetic treatment that uses a revolutionary combination of pneumatic energy and broadband light. PPx treatments are no pain treatments that are clinically proven effective and safe for the removal of unwanted hair.
How is unwanted hair removed?
A hygienic treatment tip gently draws the area to be treated into the handpiece of the Aesthera PPx system. This "pulling" up motion brings all the unwanted hair closer to the surface of the skin.

Light energy, when gently applied to the hair, is converted to heat energy and absorbed by the hair, quickly, painlessly and effectively destroying it.
How are PPx treatments for hair removal different from other laser and light based hair removal treatments available?
PPx therapy is the first and only therapy to effectively combine pneumatic energy (pressure) with broadband light. PPx therapy differs from other laser and light based treatments in that it is 5x more efficient in the delivery of energy to unwanted hair. This highly efficient delivery of energy allows PPx therapy to use a fraction of the energy that other treatments require, making treatments very gentle. PPx therapy is painless because energy is concentrated in hair to be destroyed, protecting the surrounding normal tissue. This also makes PPx therapy safer than other treatment modalities.

Treatments are relaxing and not associated with side effects such as the redness or other usual post treatment discomforts. PPx therapy is 4 to 7 times faster than treatments with other laser or light based technologies. It does do not require pre-treatments with topical anesthetics or cooling gels, resulting in reducing treatment time by 35 - 45 minutes.

Laser hair removal requires multiple treatments.
Although one laser session can produce long-term hair removal, as a rule multiple treatment sessions are necessary to obtain optimal results. In large part this is due to the fact that laser hair removal is most effective for hair which is in the anagen phase. Anagen is the growth phase of hair. Since hair grows in cycles, not all of the hairs are in anagen at any given time. Additional sessions are necessary to catch all of the hairs when they are in anagen.
What areas can be treated?
Any area, except adjacent to the eye, where there is excess hair. The most common areas requested are the face, upper lip, neck, chest, periareolar, underarms, back, abdomen, bikini line, and legs.
About permanent hair reduction by laser.
Waxing, shaving, and plucking all produce hair removal which is temporary. Lasers have clearly documented that there is permanent hair reduction after each treatment. The FDA has approved lasers for permanent hair reduction. The results tend to be additive, i.e. more treatments lead to greater degrees of permanent hair reduction. For any given patient results cannot be precisely predicted. Results can be variable, even with the best lasers.

RESTRICTIONS ON TREATMENT Laser hair removal is not for everyone. The absolute requirement is that one's hair must be darker than the surrounding skin. Additionally very darkly pigmented people absorb too much laser energy in their skin and are not ideal candidates. Tanned patients with light hair are not candidates. Tanned patients with dark hair should wait until their tan fades before they are treated.Laser hair removal treatments should not be performed on patients with the following condition: * A history of keloid scarring. * Active infection or a history of herpes simplex in the treatment area. * Hypersensitivity to bleaching agents. * Use of Accutane within the preceding 6 months.
